What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a long-term restorative dental solution designed to replace missing teeth with durable, natural-looking prosthetics. They consist of small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots. Because titanium is biocompatible, it undergoes a process called osseointegration, where the post fuses with the bone over several months to provide a stable foundation.

Once the implant is securely integrated, an abutment (connector piece) and a custom porcelain crown are attached to complete the restoration. Unlike traditional dentures, implants are fixed in place and do not shift, which helps improve chewing function and speech. Additionally, by mimicking natural roots, they stimulate the jawbone to prevent bone loss and preserve facial structure. They are considered a permanent solution that can last 15 years or more with proper oral hygiene and regular professional check-ups.
